Fire Drill the Movie – Coming Soon!

During my tenure at Tribune Interactive, a giant seminar was held where each department had to present a video describing what it was that we did all day. Since my department used the term “Fire Drill” to describe whatever screaming emergency required us to drop everything, happening so often that we started calling ourselves the “Fire Department,” that was the theme we chose.

I admit that it’s possible we may have put a bit too much effort into our video. It was the only one with a score, special effects, professional voice-over and a real-life celebrity guest. But it was a lot of fun and one of the things I’m proudest of during my time at TI.

The creative genius who did the graphics, fx and editing was Jon Vreeland – http://www.vree.com

The score was “Summon the Worms” and “The Jihad” from the Children of Dune Soundtrack by Brian Tyler.

And yes, that celebrity guest is real, he really came and sat with us for a few minutes one hilarious Wednesday afternoon. Marc Chase, who he is impersonating, is the president of Tribune Interactive, our boss at the time.

With the exception of the helicopter sequence in the opening, everything else was filmed by the three of us. Several of the shots nearly resulted in serious injury but it’s all in good fun.
