Israeli Artists Help Save Animal Shelter – New Tang Dynasty Television
Girgurim is a shelter for hundreds of stray dogs and cats. The association has organized a benefit concert to raise awareness and enough funds to keep it going.
The volunteers have saved many pets lives as some have special needs. Artists and pet lovers were happy to contribute to the special event.
Singer Danny Litanis family has forty cats at home, and spend much of their time caring for pets.
[Danny Litani, Singer & Writer]:
I took part in this event because I spend a lot of my time to this cause of saving pets. Helping the general public become aware is very important. Fortunately enough there are many artists in Israel who love pets and who raise them. It is very important that artists respond so well to volunteering in this area.
[Liad, Guitarist, Singer, Lady D. Band]:
When we discovered that its a benefit concert for Girgurim, which is a shelter for cats, its obvious we were glad to do that. We have dogs, she has a cat, and we care very-very much about anything that has to do with pets. Anyone can do a little bit, and if everyone would contribute a little bit, I hope it would make a difference.
The shelters manager has spent the last two years volunteering for the association, which is caring for 800 cats and 40 dogs. Uri is very happy the shelter is getting some public attention thanks to the artists contribution.
[Uri Peer, Manager, Girgurim Animal Shelter]:
First thing, they bring us their audience and their spare time and we personally love them. They bring us public attention. I must admit this morning we appeared on TV owing to this celebrity, and as long as they love cats and dogs, we will be glad to get their help.
The shelter hopes more public awareness will raise the issue of caring for pets and hope the government will provide funds to keep animal shelters going.
